Air Passenger Rights
Your Air Passenger Rights are protected by Regulation (EC) 261/2004. This Regulation provides common rights on flight compensation for passengers in the event of more than 3 hours delay, cancellation and overbooking.

Only a small percentage of all air passengers are aware of their rights and many lack the legal knowledge to claim compensation for their delayed flights. Even when they know they can get a compensation, that may not be that easy to do when one needs to convince the airlines.

Know your rights
According to regulation EC 261/2004, you have three main rights when your flight gets disrupted:

Right to full compensation
In the case of delayed, cancelled or overbooked flight, you can get from 250 to 600 in flight compensation.
Delayed Flight Compensation
Time is money- if your flight was late to arrive at the final destination by 3+ hours you are eligible for a compensation.
Cancelled flight Compensation
Notification is a must - if you weren't notified of flight cancellation at least 14 days prior, you are eligible for a compensation.
Overbooked Flight Compensation
A seat must be guaranteed - if you were denied boarding due to overbooking, you are also eligible for compensation.

Right to care when your flight is delayed by more
than 2 hours, cancelled or overbooked.
Regulation EC 261/2004 requires airlines to take care of your during
the flight disruption by providing:
Two free phone calls
Email or free fax
Accommodation at a hotel
Individual consulting
Transport to/from airport
Additionally, your expenses are to be refunded if
the airline didn't provide care
If you had additional expenses due to the airline not providing care, you are entitled to a refund as long as the expenses can be considered reasonable- champagne or stays at five stars hotels wouldn't be.

Flight delayed, but you were offered re-routing
Flight delayed, but you were offered flight ticket refund
Flight cancelled, but you were offered re-routing
Flight cancelled, but you were offered flight ticket refund
Denied boarding, but it was the airline's fault
Denied boarding, but it was your own fault (late to gate, passport issues, etc.)
Can I get denied boarding compensation because of overbooking? What are my other rights?
In this case, you can expect to:

Recover the full price of the ticket within 7 days from the date of the incident

Get a ticket on the next plane to your final destination, under similar terms

Select a later flight under similar conditions.

If you choose to travel on a different route, and you have to wait, the carrier is required to provide you with free meals and drinks,

access to two free calls, let you use email or send a free fax. When you have to wait for a flight for one or more nights – you must be granted

free accommodation in a hotel, including transport to/from the airport.

I am a non-EU citizen. Can I expect compensation for a cancelled or delayed flight?
Yes. Irrespective of the passenger's nationality, the regulation applies to all passengers who departed from any airport within the EU or arrived to the EU on an airline registered in the European Union.

Several people (family members, friends travelling together, etc.) booked tickets together and all the names are on a single booking form. Which person has to fill in the claim?

When completing the form, you can fill in a claim on behalf of each passenger whose ticket was booked along with yours. You will need to enter the data for each passenger, and we will send them the links to your completed claim and to the document that they will have to sign, in order for us to represent their rights.
In addition, each passenger can choose to fill in a claim for himself

What law regulates the payment of compensation for delayed or cancelled flights?
The rights of air passengers and the obligations of airlines are outlined in EU law by Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004.

The document details the rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long delay of flights.
